Annual Giving Q&A
Why is The Blue and White Fund important?
Tuition and endowment income combined are not sufficient to meet the total annual operating expenses of running the Academy. This shortfall is typical of independent academic institutions.
Where do The Blue and White Fund contributions go?
Blue and White dollars go directly into the operating budget of Grand River Academy. In other words, they enhance virtually every area of Faculty and student life at our top boys boarding school in Austinburg, Ohio. Blue and White dollars directly support programs, curriculum, financial aid, Faculty and staff development and salaries, enhancements for academic departments, technology, studio arts, athletics, activities, and facility maintenance.
Who should give to The Blue and White Fund?
We ask EVERYONE who is part of the Grand River Academy community to participate in The Blue and White Fund. We hope that every member of our school community understands the importance of Annual Giving and will participate as generously as possible. Regardless of the amount, each and every gift is important! Corporate Matching Gift programs enable donors to increase the impact of their contribution and are an invaluable source of additional revenue for The Blue and White Fund.
Why is percentage of participation important?
We aim for 100% participation. Strong participation in The Blue and White Fund is an important way for us to demonstrate the commitment and dedication of our alumni and parents to the Academy and its students.
When applying for Foundation or Corporate gifts, the most important measure that is used to evaluate community-wide support for Grand River is to look at the percentage of individuals who participate in The Blue and White Fund.
